The PowerFilm 3v Solar Panel series photovoltaic panels represent a step tothe next level in the solar industry. Using a process of manufacture called roll-to-roll, a thin film ofsilicon is deposited on a plastic backing; the resulting panel is one that islightweight, durable, and most importantly, totally flexible.  Each panel has copper contacts to allow theintegration of multiple panels for a more powerful array, or simply forattaching leads to a battery charger.

Aside from flexibility, durability is a key feature for thePowerFilm series; they are truly all weather panels, suitable for rain, winds,and cold, they can even be walked on!  Wecurrently offer more than 50 models incorporating PowerFilm technology,including battery chargers for AA, AAA, 6V, and 12V batteries.  For a complete list of available sizes andpower ratings please contact out sales department.

Q: What is the efficiency of PowerFilm modules?
A: There are manyfactors that go into the how much power you are able to draw from your solarpanels, and many are related to the design and orientation of your solar array;having said that, a safe average to assume with PowerFilm technology is5%.  Flexible panel technology, however,is still young compared to rigid panels, and as such is advancing all thetime.  As a side note, there are widelyvarying standards within the industry for panel efficiency ratings and weencourage you to test different panels to find their actual power output.

 

Q: What is the ideal operation temperature for thePowerFilm series?
A: The PowerFilm series is designed to operate in allatmospheric conditions, though the optimal operation temperature is around25°C.  It is important to note however,that every panel gets less efficient as its temperature rises far above 25°C.

 

Q: Do solar panels need maintenance?
A: Solar Panelsare very low maintenance in general.  Aslong as you perform routine checks of the wiring to insure that it maintainsits integrity, and wipe off the panel with a damp cloth to remove any dirt andgrime that has built up on it, your panels should last a very long time.
