Jumpstart your indoor-planted seedlings with Jump Start Light System! It provides seedlings, houseplants, and indoor flowers with the full spectrum of light, ensuring that photosynthesis takes place so plants grow healthy and strong.
Our sturdy system comes complete with stand, light fixture, and two full-spectrum fluorescent bulbs. The stand’s height can adjust from 4” to 2’ so the light source will never be too far from your plants. Jump Start Light System provides a 2’ long growing area- perfect for two standard seed-starting trays or several houseplants or indoor flowers. Works great with the Healthy Gardens Hydroponics Kit as well.
Jump Start Light System helps seedlings grow faster and sturdier because it provides the full light spectrum and can be adjusted to the proper height. When seedlings don’t receive enough of the spectrum (or if the light source is too far away), they grow too tall and spindly and are generally weaker. With Jump Start Light System, you’ll grow strong healthy seedlings right from the start. Energy-efficient system is easy to assemble.
Heavyweight Row Covers
Protect crops down to 24oF!
Almost three times thicker than regular floating row covers! With these covers you can plant your spring garden a week or two earlier with less risk of frost damage. Also great for extending late harvests of fall crops like lettuce, spinach and chard by at least several weeks. In milder areas these heavyweight covers could allow you to pick greens all winter. The covers delay freezing of soil so you can leave carrots, turnips and other root crops in place and dig them as needed, well into icy weather. Lets 50% of sunlight pass through. Reusable.
Floating Row Covers
Shield plants from frost and pests
An essential for organic gardeners! Floating row covers protect plants from frost, while letting in sunlight, water and air.
Our standard-weight Floating Row Covers:
- extend early and late growing seasons by providing frost protection down to about 28ºF
- aid germination by keeping soil moist
- prevent crusting of soil due to hard rains
- shield plants from insect pests, including virus-carrying aphids.
Covers transmit 85% of sunlight, allowing strong plant growth. Soft polypropylene fibers are less abrasive to tender plants than polyester covers. Last about 20 weeks (e.g., 5-week periods for four seasons). Cut to fit; hoops not required. Remove when daytime temps are consistently above 80ºF.

Scratch 1 tablespoon per plant into soil surface after transplanting or when seedlings emerge. Then make a second application of 1 tablespoon per plant midseason.
Rose and Ornamental Plant Spray
Controls a wide range of fungal diseases and pests!
Controls fungal diseases such as black spot, scab, powdery mildew, rust, blight, brown rot and leaf spot.
Controls insect pests such as aphids, leafhoppers, caterpillars, whiteflies, spittlebugs, mealybugs, scale, thrips, psyllids, fruit flies, earwigs, chiggers, roseslugs and mites.
Only from Gardens Alive! Sulfur fungicides are widely regarded as providing effective control of several major diseases. Proper plant nutrition, and removing dead or damaged leaves, will also reduce disease and insect problems.
For household home garden use; use up to day of harvest. For disease control, mix 5 ounces of Rose and Ornamental Plant Spray concentrate with one gallon of water when high levels of disease are present or during periods of wet weather. During dry weather or when levels of disease are low, mix 2 1/2 ounces of concentrate with one gallon of water. Use as a preventive spray early in the season before diseases are noticed. Spray again every 7-10 days or after rain.
For insect and mite control, mix 5 ounces of spray concentrate with one gallon of water. Pests must be sprayed directly in order to be controlled effectively.

Starting a new lawn is easier than ever with Gardener’s Gold Mulch. This easy-to-use palletized straw mulch keeps grass seed moist and in place for faster, more even germination. It’s easier to apply than regular straw, with less mess and less waste. Gardener’s Gold Mulch is perfect for both large and small areas and can be applied by hand or with a spreader.
Gardener’s Gold Mulch:
- Keeps seeds in place. Special binding agents help the straw fibers to become enmeshed, creating a fine layer of straw fiber that protects grass seed.
- Holds moisture better than regular straw and straw mats. Gardener’s Gold Mulch is heavier than regular straw because it’s eight times as dense.
- Shields seeds from pecking birds.
- Helps grass seed germinate more quickly and evenly.
- Doesn’t contain unwanted weed seeds present in regular straw.
Gardener’s Gold Mulch is made up of straw fibers compressed into pellet form. Once you apply the mulch, simply wet it down and watch it expand to form a thin but dense ground cover.
Use it on newly sown grass seed and around newly planted trees. Biodegradable mulch is made from all-natural materials. Apply at 1 lb. per 10 sq. ft.
