Green Furniture and Its Beneficial Components

With the recent natural calamities that are happening all across the globe, people are now realizing the importance of having environmentally safe items, including green furniture, at home, in the office and even in public areas. A relatively new kind of product, this type of furniture is revolutionizing the industry.

When purchasing eco-friendly furniture, one doesn't only contribute in preserving the earth's natural resources, but also contributes to creating a safer and cleaner environment for everyone. Today, such types of furniture are very easy to come across. Thanks to public speakers and environmentalists who continue to open the eyes of people regarding the effects of global warming, more and more customers are now becoming environmentally conscious, and are starting the habit of purchasing green furniture and other eco-friendly products.

Although at first glance, eco-friendly furniture pieces may have the same look as traditional ones, their components and sustainability make all the difference. These products are made more environmentally friendly because they are manufactured from lumber sourced from forests that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This means that a new tree is planted or grown to maturity in place of the one used to make the raw material.

Further, there is no chemical contamination or toxicity in the components of such products. Using only FDA-approved oil-based finishes for wood surfaces, as well as non-toxic and safe glues to bind the products, green furniture units do not release any formaldehyde gases or other airborne pollutants, which non-eco-friendly furniture and other products are known to emit.
